Our farm is a ten-acre property set on a ridge overlooking Port Cygnet. Surrounded by farmland, it has truly magical views in every direction.
The farmhouse was built in 1907, however foundations from a much earlier building on the same site were discovered during extensive renovations conducted in 2009.
The guest house stands on the site of an original pre-WW2 apple pickers’ hut. It’s a 100% new building, designed by Andrew Blaxland, built on the site in 2008.
It won an HIA (Housing Industry of Australia) Building Award and was used as much-loved short-stay accommodation.
The apple packing shed is a beautiful and vast old shed, glorious as it is but in need of some love and renovation. It was the hub of activity when the surrounding acres were full of apple trees, and there are still some packing instructions on the wall.
The building inspector has already given us a list of things to do to make sure this magnificent building stays upright for another hundred years. In its next iteration, it’ll be Brad’s tinker shed. And there’s a little restoration project waiting for Brad inside too. :)
The dairy building was built around 1973 as a farm shed. It was renovated for home occupation use in 2014.
Three beautiful babes have come to live the life! We have best friends Mia (Palomino Paint) and Honey (Appaloosa), plus Honey’s adorable new foal, Ritchie. All from Brightside Animal Sanctuary. They’ll live here for as long as we like, which might be a very long time!
